Easy to Use

The VisionMaster M500™ runs with a single click, automatically recognizing and measuring solder paste in the camera’s view. Height and volume readings for each pad are displayed clearly. Just as easily, double-clicking readings adds them to the built-in SPC charts.

Completely plug-and-play with any modern Windows™ desktop or laptop that has a Gigabit Ethernet port.

Long Life

The M500™ is zero maintenance and is designed to give years of trouble-free usage. Rugged yet light and portable, the sensor is machined from aircraft grade aluminum and is mounted on a vibration damping, ESD resistant granite base. To ensure consistent high quality, more than 95 percent of components are sourced in the United States.

Technology

Like all other VisionMaster 3D Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) equipment, the M500™ uses advanced structured light scanning to build height data for every pixel in the view. VisionMaster honed this technology for Solder Paste Inspection use and is the only manufacturer in the world deploying this sophisticated 3D algorithm for manual benchtop units.

Long life, solid state LEDs are used for projection and background lighting. Advanced CMOS image sensors are immune to electrical analog noise resulting in very repeatable measurements. Gigabit connectivity means fast, reliable and easy connection to the PC.



Software



VisionMaster M500™ Software

Performance

The M500™ uses the most advanced VisionMaster software to date, making full use of modern multi-core processors and available GPU (video card) massive parallelism to speed up processing and user-responsiveness.

Intelligence

Enhanced image processing endows the M500™ with intelligence that even inline SPI machines do not possess. Solder paste is automatically identified by using parametric texture recognition and then deducing the background reference. Alternatively, the user can select reference and measurement areas manually by drawing simple shapes on the screen.

Gerber Programming

The Gerber programming option allows the user to program boards under a minute by simply using the mouse to select the components and pads that need to be measured. The full automatic teach functionality of the A500™ is now available for the M500™!

3D Plots

Fully customizable, colorful 3D plots are produced using graphical hardware optimized rendering. These plots can be rotated and zoomed into for inspecting solder pads from all possible angles. Smart grid resolution increases the detail displayed as the user zooms in. The height features can be exaggerated with a simple slider bar to enhance the appearance of variations like dog ears on top of solder paste.

Custom and standard color palettes can be chosen to color code 3D data based on user selected pass/fail and warning thresholds. Photo-realistic 3D shading also is available that superimposes the camera image on the 3D data.

SPC Charts

Statistical process control (SPC) charts are built directly into the software. Features like height and volume can be selected easily for display. Different data sets can be created intuitively and an easy auto-scroll option is available at the flick of the mouse pointer to view historic data. The chart data is stored in simple-to-store and edit text files that also can be imported easily into any spreadsheet for further analysis.

Granite Base

The granite base provides a rigid and rugged platform. The standard size shown below accommodates more than 99% of PCB panels in production today.

The "throat depth" or distance from the center of the field of view to the sensor z column is 300mm. This allows inspection of panels 500mm (2 ft) in one dimension and an unlimited size in the other dimension. Extended granite bases can be ordered or the sensor z-axis can be mounted directly to a flat workbench surface.

Board Holder Base

This light aluminum and steel base (optional) allows for a two-sided PCB panel of up to 500 mm x 300 mm to be mounted and inspected securely.
